My first painting for this class began as a continuation of my love for horses. I had taken a class by another artist, where the focus was painting horses, a lot of horses. When I keyed into the horse it brought up all these memories from my childhood , growing up on a farm. As an only child, I had A LOT of time by myself and with my animals: dogs, horses, cows, ducks, rabbits, turtles,... well you get the picture. I also, had a lot of deep introspective time to myself. When we, as adults, slow down a minute, we can access this portal into ourselves, our inner child.
It’s very healing to allow yourself to go back to old memories. I’ve found my thoughts start flowing to the history of the place around me and what I was possibly feeling when I was out in the middle of a field somewhere, hanging out with my animals, usually surrounded by nature. Once I tapped into this ability, I was able to also able to tap into memories of the places, people and events that really meant something to me. My first painting done like this was “Fall” And here’s my story...
